Summer shopping

Still trying to find the right furniture and placement of the existing furniture in the new apartment, and a trip to a second-hand shop resulted in a teak sofa table and a mahogany drawer at bargain prices (800,- for both) for the living room. I like the mix of old and new.

Extinct toys

Josh Finkle has handcrafted these wooden toys of recently extinct animals. They have such awesome expressions and the material choices and finishing touches on these make them simply brilliant. I'd love to have them come live with me. As for making my own versions, I think I'll stick to making crochet animals for now, Desmond will need a friend, and besides, not sure how happy Mr. P would be if I started wood crafting at home too.

A new home

So we've signed the contract for the apartment, and are getting ready to move. Decorating my apartment, making it ready to go on the market hopefully within a few weeks, and putting our things in boxes. Trying to be a good girl and throw away a lot of things in the process, but I do love my things. Funny that.
So, here's where we'll be moving to, without the furniture, so it will be lots of fun to start decorating and buying more things for the new place. (the better I am at throwing away stuff, the more I can buy, right?)

Log Bowls

These log bowls from LoyalLoot look absolutely amazing! I wonder if it is possible to attempt making some at home, but I have a feeling I will struggle getting the right colors!

A visit to the Nighthawk

Since we had some time off this week, we decided to visit the newly opened Nighthawk Diner. We wanted the full American experience: burger, root beer, and milkshake with cherry on top. It wasn't the cheapest lunch around, but what a view we got with the food. An absolute experience.

Up in the Air

Sunday was spent up in Holmenkollen, watching the Biathlon events. Still not recovered from my stomach bug, I didn't risk the hot chocolate and waffles, but it was exciting, if not a little bit chaotic to watch the event from up close. Went home and watched the movie Up in the Air, which I enjoyed a lot (Mr P summed it up as "it seemed to be moving into the romantic comedy genre, but then it didn't, which was great, but not really sure where to place it then").

The new ski jump has a nice silhouette.
Although sitting with the Germans, (which was fun when the women competed) there were red colorspots everywhere to be seen in the crowd.

A journey back in time

Spent the weekend at my grandparents' house. It is my first visit after my grandmother moved to a nursing home, and it was an emotional journey meeting all my memories and the lack of recognition in her eyes as we met. But even if we live in separate worlds now, we shared some moments of laughter and her eyes still sparkled.

Frozen water. View from train window.

Oslo Airport. Waiting.
The kitchen. My grandmother's window.
The garden. And a winter that never ends.

Spring basket

My very first attempt at sewing. This was made after a pattern that Unepune was so kind to share for free in her blog. I didn't measure anything properly, but the pattern and type of basket is very forgiving, so it was a great first project (especially considering I started close to midnight...) The flower fabric is waxed, something I thought was a smart move, since the last fabric breadbasket I had got quite smudgy after a while.

Winter walk

Walked downtown today, getting some sun in our faces, even if it is not exactly warm yet. Still enjoying using the iPhone for taking pictures, even if my new Nikon lens still is waiting for me to go play. I guess the novelty of the photo app will wear off after a while and I will return to the good old SLR.

Waiting for the bus in my usual spot. Time to go home.

Knitting vases

Think I will attempt to knit a few like these over the weekend. Maybe I'll buy some new color pencils too. Sun is shining and the streets are almost bare, and I am wearing sneakers for the first time this year. Slowly the colors are starting to come out from their hiding. And this weekend I'll walk around trying to spot some brave snowdrops.

Amfitryon: Ice Sculptures and beer

Outside Amfitryon we passed this naturally formed Ice sculpture. I couldn't resist getting a picture. Nature = magic!
We quickly moved inside for what we'd really gone there for: beer. And beer it was. San Miguel is one of my favorites, and I love this place for serving this as their default tap beer.

Desmond

Desmond v. 0.9. Almost done - just need final touches, and a better picture. I think I've found a new good friend in Desmond. He likes to sit on my shoulder and watch Lost with me.

Under water?

Playing around with Hipstamatic, a photo app for iPhone. Wanting it to look like I was inside a water tank. Will have lots of fun with the app I think, it has so many cool settings, just too bad the pictures get kinda blurred easily, especially inside.

Blue monkey

Bought a new pattern on Etsy, and had to do a little test-run before I started with the real yarn. Was a bit difficult to get the pieces in the right places and he looks kinda shy and sad without a face. But I will make him a happy, shy monkey tomorrow.

Birthdays

We've been celebrating big birthdays for a little over a year now, and the big rush ended with me in January. I decided I didn't want a big party, and invited the girls for a nice dinner out at Restaurant Eik in Oslo. Dinner was lovely, but even lovelier the Daisy ring and matching earrings that they gave me. It was love at first sight.

Buttons!

I received the buttons I ordered through Etsy/Feltgirl today, and I absolutely love the colors! These lime green buttons were the highlight, but even the pink ones were pretty. I love buttons. And now these have been added to my collection.

Shark!

This shark was very lonely at the bookstore counter. Right next to it someone had written "Gratis", which means free. I asked the clerk, and then the shark was mine. I didn't keep him for myself, but gave him away as a part of the wrapping of a present for Mr E.
